Owlmoon sat in the den sorting herbs. She picked up two poppy heads and put them in a pile with dandilion stems. She used her tail to sweep some dried oak leaves into a pile of catch weed and cobwebs. She picked up every tiny sorrel leaf and swept it into a clump of other traveling herbs. Owlmoon turned her attention to a pile of disinfectants. She clumped all of the marigolds together and wrapped them in a dock leaf to create a leaf-wrap. She then began carefully sorting them into the back of the den. Herbs for physical wounds in one corner, herbs for illness in another. Owlmoon was so immersed in her work, she hardly noticed the cat padding into the den.

Emberpaw stepped into the medicine cat den. She could smell the variety herbs tickling her senses. Her green eyes passed over a brown tabby sorting through herbs, should smell the bitter Yarrow and sweet catmint. The brown and ginger she-cat noticed the traveling herbs, padding over she began sorting through into groups, "Shouldn't sort them? I'm mean, there not just traveling herbs." She commented, her pelt growing warm from embarrassment. Who was she to question the medicine cat? Emberpaw continued sorting, grouping the sorrel onto a leaf, gently folding until it was concealed into a leaf wrap. "Sorry. " She muttered under her breath.

Owlmoon worked beside Emberpaw, who was folding sorrel into leaf-wraps. "We'll be going to the Moonpool soon," she began. "Are you looking fowad to going?" Owlmoon continued sorting as she waited for an answer. She carefully picked up a stick ladden with deathberries and picked each one off with her claws, making sure not to spill a drop of juice. She placed them in a leaf-wrap, and wrapped them three times over. Then, with her paws, she pushed them all the way to the back of the store, where the kits would have a hard time reaching. Owlmoon did not enjoy keeping them in the den, but she reminded herself that they could be used as a cure. But only for emergencies, she thought.

Emberpaw nodded eagerly, "Well finally be able to see if Starclan has approved me as a Medicine cat apprentice." She said excitedly. The she cat began sorting other herbs too, but she set aside two bundles for herself and Owlmoon. Emberpaw started next on the chamomile and daisy, putting them both in separate bundles and in their own leaf wraps for the moonpool journey. Her pelt bristled with excitement, she had no doubt she would be rejected as a Medicine cat, though, her being born a rouge might give them reason. She certainly hoped not, it'd be disastrous. Looking up from her work she spoke up and spilledher anxieties, "Do you think Starclan might reject mebecause of my kin?" She questioned worried for her answer.

"I'm sure they wouldn't. You are not responsible for your birth. What's important is that you are a clan cat at heart," Owlmoon replied. She smiled as she saw the piles of traveling herbs Emberpaw had put into wraps. "Great job," she praised her apprentice. "Starclan will be happy that they have a great new medicine cat to dream with!" Owlmoon quickly finished wrapping up the marigold in the dock leaves, then she glanced up at the darkening sky. "We should be leaving for the Moonpool soon."

Her fur began to lay flat again, her breath sighing in relief. But even still, she was nervous to be in front of the mighty cats of Starclan. As a kit, her mother used to tell her stories of the great clans living in peace, worshipping their own religion. Now she was here becoming one of the closest cat to the great starry cats. Emberpaw's soft, faded green eyes floated look outside of the medicine cat den to the auburn sky. She finished up her work, her eyes sparkling for her praise. "I have finished my work, should we leave now?" She suggested half questioned. She pulled the traveling herbs up for consumption and put the bundles in the store.

"Alright," Owlmoon replied. "You did a great job today. And I know you'll do a great job tonight when you meet Starclan." She bent down and licked up the herbs, trying her best to quickly swallow before the taste of sorrel became stuck in her mouth. I wonder what Emberpaw's life used to be like before she came to join the clan.... As she and Emberpaw padded out of the den, she glanced at the the huge pile of fresh-kill. Her belly rumbled. "It's a shame we can't eat before sharing youngest with Starclan. That vole over there looks soooooooo good." Owlmoon said thoughtfully as she reached the thorn barrier and walked out of camp.
